Name: Truly Outrageous! Is the theme song from my favorite childhood cartoon called Jem and the Holograms, The show ran from 1985-1988 and is about music company owner Jerrica Benton, her singer alter-ego Jem, her band the Holograms, and their adventures. Not exactly a typical roller derby name, but fitting for so many reasons none the less (get it?)! Number: Hi5 - Come on, what’s Truly more Outrageous than giving or receiving a spot on high five? Me: I am the youngest daughter of five girls. In a desperate attempt to entertain us all when we were young my Mom would take us to North Canton or Foxboro roller skating rink. Thus beginning my love for roller skating. There was nothing better than flying by on skates circle after circle jamming to ACE of BASE or New Kids on the Block tunes. In July of 2009 while walking my dog in Kent I saw a poster for NEO Roller derby. I immediately went to the internet to find these “roller girls“. I watched a practice where I saw Teeny Houdini get knocked on the concrete roll four times and immediately get up and continue skating in the pack, I bought gear the very next day. Random Fact: In high school I was voted Most Likely to Become a Rockstar. I have no musical talents what so ever so I have always pondered how I would fulfill this amazing prophecy given to me by my classmates of 2002. Now that I am a part of the Rock “N” Roller girls I can safely say, CHECK J.
